Presentation of the results of the Visa Hotline Project in Turkey
Date de fin: 14/10/2010 - 00:00
This event will take place in the Maelbeek Room in the Residence Palace on 14 October 2010 between 16.00 h and 18.00 h.
Do you know that Turkish citizens require a visa on their visits to Schengen countries? Are you aware that applicants are asked to present twenty-four different documents or that they have to pay a considerable amount of money and wait for up to one month to obtain a visa?
But is there a guarantee that Turkish citizens will get a visa after this cumbersome application procedure? If they are lucky, they might finally obtain it, but not without delays and substantial procedural difficulties. However, in most cases, citizens do not even get an explanation for the rejection, without mentioning the material and psychological costs a simple visa application may cause.
The report is a concrete step to follow developments on the visa issue. Our aim is to raise awareness on this topic among civil society and public at large, both in Turkey and the EU. The presentation of the Visa Hotline Report will be accompanied by a panel of experts.
