This pilot edition focuses on the routes migrants take and the difficulties and challenges they face when moving from one country to another. With reports on Mexico and Morocco and a feature interview with Ska Keller, member of the European Parliament for the Greens, our reporters Nina Haase, Jenni Roth and Ruth Reichstein worked hard to make this first edition worth listening to.

US Signs Agreement on Migrant Worker Rights With Philippines, Honduras, Ecuador and Peru

Washington - During a ceremony today at U.S. Department of Labor headquarters in Washington, Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis signed partnership agreements with ambassadors representing the embassies of Honduras, the Philippines, Peru and Ecuador. “Migrant workers make important contributions to our economy,” said Secretary Solis. “Today’s agreements help ensure these workers are aware of the right to safe workplaces and to receive full payment of the wages owed to them under the laws of the United States.”

El 18 de diciembre de 1990 la Organización de las Naciones Unidas adoptaron la Convención Internacional sobre la Protección de los Derechos de todos los Trabajadores Migratorios y sus Familiares y diez años después esta fecha se proclamó como el Día Internacional del Migrante.  En este marco, frente a la actual crisis política que atraviesa nuestro país y en atención a nuestro mandato de promover, defender y garantizar el cumplimiento de los derechos de las personas migrantes y sus familiares, DEMANDAMOS:
