Central Americans Enter the Mexican Valley of Death on their way to the U.S.

Every year, 500,000 Central Americans pass through Mexico on an invariably dangerous journey to the United States in search of better opportunities, but it is unknown how many reach their intended destination. Migrants are regularly treated as second-class citizens during their journey; many fall victim to the violence of criminal gangs, resulting in assaults, sexual slavery, kidnapping, or murder. Civil society organizations often advocate the protection of migrant rights; however, in response to a wave of migrant-associated murders, the Mexican government chosen to take action.

Nearly Half of World Citizens Believe Immigration Has Had A Negative Impact on Their Country

A survey conducted by global research company Ipsos finds that nearly one half (45%) of global citizens believe ‘immigration has generally had a negative impact on their country’ compared to just one in five (21%) who believe the impact has been positive; all others (29%) are on the fence.

L’année 2010 était une année inhabituelle. Le gouvernement était en grande partie chargé uniquement des « affaires courantes ». Ceci n’a pas empêché la Belgique de présider avec succès l’Union européenne, même si les résultats au niveau de l’asile et de la migration ne sont pas ceux qui étaient espérés.
