Taking the call for ratification to the European Parliament
One week before the results from the petition campaign will be handed over to the Belgian EU presidency, MEPs and UN agencies urged EU Member States to finally ratify the Convention. At an event - jointly organized by the OHCHR Regional Office for Europe, ILO, IOM and December 18 - to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Migrant Workers Convention MEPs Hélène Flaûtre (Greens), Alejandro Cercas (S&D), Rui Tavares (GUE/NGL) and Nadja Hirsch (ALDE) welcomed the petition campaign and expressed their support for promoting respect for migrants rights.
