Call for a human rights-based approach to migration and development
Date: 29/10/2009 - 11:02
Work field:
The increased focus on human rights for the 2008 Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) as compared to 2007 GFMD should be viewed positively. However, the recent focus on migration and human rights is far from adequate in addressing the root causes of migration and the interrelationship between human rights and migration. The NGO Committee on Migration therefore issues this call for a human rights-based approach to migration and development on the occasion of the 2nd GFMD which takes place in the Philippines.
